What goes into a quote
A job quote adds up five things: material (with an allowance for waste and failed prints), machine time, your labour for cleaning and finishing, a one-off setup fee for slicing and preparing the file, and a profit margin. Tax is added last if you charge it.
Setup fee and small orders
Preparing a file takes about the same time whether you print one part or fifty, so many makers charge a fixed setup fee or a minimum order. Spreading it over the parts is why the price per part falls as the quantity rises.
Where the numbers come from
Work out your machine cost per hour with the cost per hour calculator, and check a single part with the price calculator. The default values here are examples only; replace them with your own.
Sharing the quote
Use Print / Save as PDF to keep a copy of the figures. Add your business name, the customer's details, delivery and payment terms in your own document before you send it.
